Turnkey smart homes on our own OS: 0xd-os and 0xd-ui

A smart home is usually sold as a pile of boxes: a hub from one brand, panels from another, an app from a third, and a cloud without which all of it turns into very expensive light switches. We do it differently. We build homes turnkey — from the design to the last panel on the wall — and everything in them that glows, thinks and reacts runs on components we designed ourselves. At the core is our own operating system, 0xd-os, and our own graphics stack, 0xd-ui. This article is about what you get when a home is built on a single stack from end to end.

Turnkey

One contractor. One stack. One person accountable.

Design, hardware, installation, setup and support — all from us.

Turnkey, for us, is literal: you describe how you want to live and we deliver a finished home. Not a parts list and ten apps, but scenes that fire, light that greets you and a climate you stop thinking about. Every panel, controller and sensor speaks the same language, because we wrote that language.

1

Meeting and design: how you live, floor plans, control points, budget.

2

Hardware selection: from large wall panels to tiny controllers hidden in wall boxes.

3

Installation and commissioning with your electricians — during construction or in a finished home.

4

Scenes and interface design tailored to you: colours, language, what shows where.

5

Support and over-the-air updates — the home gets better instead of getting old.

0xd-os

An operating systemthat fits everywhere.

The same code on a flagship tablet and on a device with 512 KB of memory.

The heart of every home we build is 0xd-os. It is not firmware and not a skin over Android or Linux, but our own operating system, designed from a blank page for one job: to run the space around a person instantly and reliably.

Its defining trait is range. The very same 0xd-os boots on a top-tier tablet with an eight-core processor and on a controller the size of a matchbox with 512 KB of memory — less than a single photo on your phone. On both it is one system, one interface, one behaviour. Not a “lite edition”, not a “compatibility mode” — the same OS.

512 KB

A complete system with a screen, touch, networking and persistent settings.

98%

Even on a tablet-sized panel: the system wakes only when there is work to do.

The home runs in your home. The internet is an option, not a requirement.

Panels, switches, sensors and clocks see each other as one whole.

That is where energy efficiency comes from — for us a principle, not a feature. The system runs no background services, indexes nothing and syncs nothing for its own sake: when the home is quiet, its controllers are quiet too. A wall panel draws about as much as a night light; a tiny controller draws like a sensor, not like a computer.

That controller: a full 0xd-ui interface, real fonts and animations — on 512 KB of memory.

And that is where instant response comes from. Tap — done. No “loading…”, no spinners, no slowdown after a month of uptime. A panel nobody has rebooted in six months answers exactly as it did on installation day. Settings are stored so that a sudden power cut cannot corrupt them: power returns — the home is already there.

0xd-ui

Designthat looks the same on any screen.

From an 11-inch panel to a round display the size of a coin.

Beautiful smart-home interfaces usually live only on the big tablet. Small switches are left with pixel fonts and menus from the nineties. 0xd-ui removes that compromise: one design, one typography, the same dark and light themes — on a screen of any size and shape.

It is not a web page in a frame and not a set of pictures drawn for each screen. Every button, card and gauge is truly rendered, with smooth fonts, rounded corners, shadows and fluid transitions — identically on a 2.4-inch display inside a wall box and on the tablet in the living room. An on-screen keyboard with English and Russian, gestures, scrolling — all present even where memory is under a megabyte.

Five sizes, one design language. All of it is one 0xd-ui.

We tune the design to your interior: accent colour, light or dark theme, what the home screen shows, how the clock looks. The change applies to every device in the home at once — no re-configuring twenty screens one by one.

Compatibility

Runs on any device.Except Apple.

We don't lock you into our hardware — and we don't pay for anyone else's.

0xd-os does not demand “branded” panels at astronomical prices. It runs on devices already on the market — and on the ones we build ourselves:

Android tablets and phonesWall panelsSingle-board computersControllers with 512 KB of memoryMini displays and watchesPCs and laptopsThe browser

The single exception is Apple hardware: a closed platform that does not allow another operating system to be installed. Everything else — from a retired tablet to an industrial controller — becomes part of your home.

Why we built it
A smart home should not cost as much as a car or need rebooting like an old router. It should just work — fast, quiet and beautiful. So we wrote our own operating system.
The 0xD team
Cost

A fraction of the priceof showroom systems.

Not because it does less — because we don't pay for other people's licences and clouds.

The price of a big-brand smart home is made of three things: branded hardware with a logo markup, software licences and a cloud subscription. We removed all three.

The result is a system that, with the same functionality and better design, costs several times less and lasts longer: when the tablet on the wall physically ages, you replace the tablet, not the home.

Getting started

Tell us how you want to live.

The rest is our job.

We take projects of any scale: an apartment, a country house, rental units, an office. We work during construction and in finished interiors alike. Write to us — we will discuss scenarios, show the interfaces live and put together an estimate that will pleasantly surprise you.
